After Rain coffee & dessert 雨過甜點咖啡, Taipei – Rich Matcha Desserts like Pudding, Swiss Roll and Cake
Fans of matcha desserts will fall in love with After Rain coffee & dessert 雨過甜點咖啡! The Taipei cafe has an attractive range of matcha desserts (e.g. cakes, rolls, ice cream and pastries) to satisfy ardent lovers.
To enjoy the best of everything, patrons are advise to check the schedule posted monthly on the cafe’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. Coined as ‘Matcha Season’, these days will have more matcha offerings. Cafe reservation are available too, though it was relatively quiet when I visited on a weekday noon in May.
Nestled among landed properties, After Rain coffee & dessert is superbly spacious and homely, furnished with mismatch chairs and tables and huge bear plushies.
The menu is all in Mandarin. Drinks are extensive.

Luck is on my side. Despite patronising on a ‘non-matcha season’ day, there are still several matcha desserts available.
The signature Matcha Pudding NT $95 is firm and creamy, elevated with a super rich Matcha Ice Cream (made of Isuzu Matcha powder) NT $100.
The pool of sweet syrup helps to balance the bitterness of the matcha. Recommended to add the ice cream.
Another highlight is the Wakatake Swiss Roll NT $160. Bite into the moist and dense sponge cake completed with a luxuriously smooth matcha cream.
Quench my thirst with a glass of Honey Lemonade NT $160 too.
