Ah Lock Kitchen – Halal Hakka Rice Bowls, colourful Min Jiang Kueh & Lok Lok with handmade Hakka Tofu and Meatballs

Located at Guoco Tower, Ah Lock & Co specialises in local comfort food – hakka rice bowls, and all-time favourite snack – min Jiang kueh. For those who don’t frequent the area, you can find another outlet of theirs, called Ah Lock Kitchen, in Woodlands (which I ordered from).

The rice bowls start from $7.80 and range from the signature Hakka Tofu Bowl and Crispy Chicken Bowl to choices that include black noodles and curry noodles.

Known for the handmade ingredients, the Hakka Tofu Bowl $7.80 is probably one of the must-tries as it comes with Hakka handmade tofu stuffed with minced meat, meatballs, diced tofu in special mayo sauce as well as assorted accompaniments like nori, long beans and mani cai sprinkled with sesame seeds on premium Japanese rice. There is also an add-on option for Crispy Broccoli $1.20/$1.50 and Sous Vide Egg $1.50.

Another dish I had was the Yong Tau Foo Hakka Black Noodle $7.80 which was also topped with handmade tofu and meatballs that were big and juicy. The noodles won me over for its al dente texture and tasty black special sauce that it had been tossed in.

As for the Min Jiang Kueh, there are three flavours – Original Peanut, Matcha Red Bean and Charcoal Coconut – all of which are slathered with overflowing, drool-worthy filling.

Ah Lock Kitchen also offers a variety of lok lok like Hakka Tofu, Hakka Meatballs, King Oyster Mushroom, Beancurd Sheet and more. You can also get them as a bundle with the Hakka bowls for online orders.
