A&W Malaysia for Crispy Curly Fries & Root Beer Float
A&W was my childhood.
I adore them for the crispy curly fries and root beer float that was my ultimate love. When they made their departure from Singapore, who knows that they would only return after what seemed like more than a decade.
Just prior to A&W’s latest opening at Jewel Changi Airport, I happened to have my first A&W in a decade’s time at Melaka. Last I checked the queue at Jewel had mounted to a two-hour wait. But guess what, A&W has always been in our neighbouring country, Malaysia. If you ever crossed the border to as near as Johor, head down to AEON Bukit Indah Shopping Mall for it!
Of course, I had to order my favourite curly fries. It’s crispy at the surface and fleshy within. There’s this nostalgic taste to it; like a flavouring/seasoning.
I didn’t remember much of the fried chicken though, so I decided to order this as a set. It had nice skin, very crunchy and flavourful. Nonetheless, it was a tad oily just underneath the skin. The meat was succulent.
The root beer float is a must-order in an A&W restaurant.
This American drink is the only kind of soda I would willingly take a pint. Plop in a vanilla ice cream and the root beer just tastes heavenly. It’s sweet, frizzy and creamy.
