Dutch Colony Coffee Co.: New Outlet Selling Cakes and Coffee At UE Square
Dutch Colony Coffee Co. has officially opened its door to the public on 13th January 2017 at level one of UE Square. Joining the family with sister outlets in the East and West, those living or working near the central area will be glad to welcome an additional coffee kiosk in their vicinity.
Besides a menu boasting of filter coffee, espresso coffee, chocolate drinks and tea, there are also a variety of cakes available. Sounds like a perfect place for your caffeine fix and afternoon time desserts.
The interior of the cafe exudes a sense of cosiness with their simple and neat decor. I felt tranquilized to laze within, surrounded by light wooden coloured furnitures and little pots of plants sitting on each table. The soft glow of the light falls gently upon clean white walls, warmly lit up the environment. With plugs and wifi available, I could foresee myself returning for the coffee, convenience and space.
Origin selections of the month for Filter Coffee goes at $6.50 while Espresso Coffee starts at $3.50 onwards. We had the Cappuccino ($5) and Chai Latte ($5), both featuring beautiful latte art on them.
Despite a heavy meal, we couldn’t resist but order a Matcha Azuki cake ($7.90) to share. Layered with matcha-infused sponge, matcha cream and Azuki beans, the cake sliced through easily. I heard comments that it was a tad dry though I found it rather satisfactory in terms of texture. It was slightly on the sweeter side but I guess while pairing with the coffee, it could complement both favours of sweet and bitterness.
Spotted another table ordering the Hummingbird cake which was somewhat similar to a banana cake. Looked yummy too!
It is indeed a nice place to be in and I am looking forward to more offerings from the cafe. I heard there would be pastries like sandwiches being brought in as well. Even on the first day of their opening, the crowd was never thinning while service remained friendly and swift. Given Dutch Colony Coffee Co.’s established brand name, it is no doubt that they will continue to thrive as time passes.
