Fresh Generation 鲜一代 at Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre

Fresh Generation 鲜一代 at Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre serves delicious seafood soup using flower crabs as the base for the broth.

As for Fresh Generation, it may sound very modern. But if you think it will only appeal to youngsters, there are actually many from the older generations willing to fork out more than $10 for a bowl of seafood soup too. That said, Fresh Generation is also active in social media, reaching out to a larger target audience and with the inclusion of more premium seafood into their dishes. That is bound to attract many seafood lovers out there!

The menu is straightforward with five kinds of seafood soup starting from $6 and the option to add on more ingredients at an additional charge.

Signature Seafood Platter ($28)

Serve in a large black bowl, the amount of seafood can easily feed three people. The platter consists of two crayfishes, prawns, clams, fish slices and lobster balls while the bottom is laid with chopped noodles.

The seafood tasted fresh with succulent meats, especially the crayfish meats which came out from their shells easily. With the amount of seafood cooked in it, the broth was flavourful from the umami-ness of the crustacean while slightly on the saltier side. Diners can choose to have it pair with rice which would be a better option.

Lobster Seafood Soup ($28 for 1 pax, $58 for 3 pax)

Compared to the broth above, this had a richer and more robust lobster taste. I loved the heartiness of the soup and the lobster meat soaked in the essence of the broth.

For those who want more seafood in your bowls, you can add on for more clams, sliced fish and lobsters etc. Alternatively, there are smaller bowls such as the Crayfish Seafood Soup ($10) and Scallop Seafood Soup ($10) that feeds one person too.
