Gram Cafe & Pancakes Singapore VivoCity – Osaka Souffle Pancakes with limited portions per day

Japan’s iconic wobbly pancakes have officially jiggled their way to Singapore! Hailing from none other than Osaka, Japan’s kitchen, these impossibly fluffy pancakes are set to be the center of many mesmerising boomerangs when the cafe opens at VivoCity on 16 June 2019.

The cosy, minimalist cafe is situated next to Secret Recipe on the second level, with arresting displays of flora that greet you as you enter the dining space. Look out for the cooks cooking up pancakes through the window on your left!

Fans of Japanese style pancakes will no doubt know that these fluffy darlings are slow-cooked on low heat and whipped full of air to attain a density and texture lighter even than cotton candy. Get ready to clamour for the Premium Pancakes ($17.90), which are limited to 30 servings at 11am, 3pm, and 6pm to maintain its high quality.

Considering the limited size of the pancake girdle and the utter care that goes into creating each trio of pancakes, that’s a sure way of showing diners Gram’s dedication to churning out only the best pancakes!

Measuring 4cm in thickness, each disc yields a melt-in-your-mouth texture that can best be described as a light summer cloud gracing your tastebuds. The trio are carefully stacked and crowned with Gram original butter, with home-made whipped cream and sweet maple syrup to complete this indulgence. Oh, and be sure to eat it quickly, as each passing minute causes the stack to grow denser and lose its souffle-like quality.

Not one of the lucky 30? Fret not! You can still savour Gram’s other mouthwatering creations. The Chili Beans Pancakes ($18.90) is one of the few savoury creations on the menu. With a fiery kick from the chili beans sauce layered generously over the pancakes, you’ll be reaching for the side of sausage, potato, and salad greens to neutralise the unforgiving spice.

The pancakes in this and the Rich Tiramisu Pancakes ($15.90)are thinner and take on a consistency closer to traditional Japanese dorayaki.

True to its name, the Rich Tiramisu Pancakes are incredibly flavourful, with each individual disc dipped in coffee just like one would with lady’s fingers for the traditional Italian dessert. Layered with rich mascarpone tiramisu cream and dusted with cocoa powder, every bite is an ode to decadence.

Detractors of pancakes can seek refuge Gram’s selection of French toasts. The French Toast of Chocolate Banana ($15.90)features brioche topped with insanely fresh bananas, creamy vanilla ice cream, and rich chocolate sauce that will give you the ultimate sugar rush. Did we forget to mention it’s probably a good idea to leave your calories counter at the door?

Possibilities are endless at Gram Cafe & Pancakes, where there are also a whopping 16 toppings, including sauces, ice cream, fruits, and sausages for you to create your ideal stack. With so many F&B concepts from the Land of the Rising Sun setting up shop in Singapore, fans of all things Japanese are in for a real treat. Be prepared to face the queues if you decide to head down!
