Grub Singapore at Bishan Park – Family-friendly Burger Bistro
Grub at Bishan Park is a burger bistro surrounded by lush greeneries. The tranquil environment with an occasional breeze is well situated from the hustle and bustle of city life. The bistro reminds me of a glasshouse but with brick mortar wall. The interior and alfresco area is filled with farmhouse tables and benches. Here, diners can expect a laid-back dining experience.
Grub sells a variety of burgers which explains their name ‘burger bistro’. Since my first visit when it opened about four years ago, Grub had me enticed with their signature items such as the Mentaiko Fries $9 and Crispy Fish Burger $14. And yes, these items are still on the menu!
The menu has improved tremendously over the years! Food options are more substantial now with Appetisers, Salads, Mains, Burgers, Pizzas, Pasta, Desserts and two full list of drinks selections.
Chilli Crab Pasta $19
I love this dish for the abundance of ingredients tossed in with the linguine. The meaty crab in chilli crab sauce was slightly spicy and a good proportion to the noodles. Even the soft shell crab perched on top was beautifully fried and fleshy.
Sakura Ebi Pasta $18
It was a colorful sight with the sprinkles of red sakura ebi over the lightly tossed linguine. I could feel the varying degree of textures as I chewed on the al dente noodles mixed in with crunchy sakura ebi bits. Yum.
On the other hand, the Mentaiko taste was quite faint, and it was meant to be that way as indicated on the menu too. I liked that it was light and not very creamy.
Truffle Floss Fries $9
This is a kid-friendly option yet even I am hooked to it. Thick cut truffle potato strips hidden beneath a pile of meat floss was so addictive one serving wasn’t enough.
Kopi Pork Ribs $19
The pork ribs was drenched in a thick brown sauce that gave a nice blend of sweet and bitterness. The meats, however, would require a bit of jaw-muscle before swallowing. For such a portion, it would make a filling meal.
Cheese Chicken Burger
Good news! Coming next month in October, the Cheesy Chicken Burger would be making its appearance on the menu. This burger changed my perception of chicken burgers as I usually find them greasy. But the one from Grub was delicious!
The batter on the chicken was crunchy and tasty by itself while the meat remained tender and juicy. It was also served with bechamel cheese to be poured over!
Har Cheong Gai Burger $14
I never knew chicken in a burger would taste this good. Pardon me as I relish over the moment with the Har Cheong Gai Burger too. Taste-wise, it really tasted like prawn paste chicken, crispy and moist within.
Grub Double Cheeseburger $19
Beef lovers would enjoy this with 100% freshly minced beef patty weighing 140g each and sandwiched with double cheese and bacon. I could taste the cheesiness in between each bite as the cheese was evenly melted over each patty.
Other burgers up for grabs include the Pork Yakiniku Burger $14 (sounds good) and Maple Bacon Burger $14 which I read from the menu with ingredients like ‘thick cut pork bacon with maple butter and pineapple’. Wow.
Do leave stomach space for desserts!
Churros $8
Grub is famous for their churros and at $8, it was one of the most affordably priced churros I ever had. It came in six long sticks with dark chocolate and yuzu white chocolate sauce.
Tiramisu
There are also rotational cakes and desserts on display too. Here’s the Tiramisu in a cup with strong hints of coffee soaked within the ladyfinger!
Beers
Beers drinkers would be keen to know that Grub serves RedDot draft beers – Weizen $13 and Monster Green Lager $13, alongside a range of other bottled beers, ciders and ale.
You might want to try the Green Lager if you haven’t. I heard it has got health benefits too!
