Gustoso Ristorante Italiano (Seletar Hills Estate) – New Italian Pasta & Pizza Restaurant by Chef Peter Neo
Nestled in the heart of Seletar Hills Estate, Gustoso Ristorante Italiano serves up authentic Italian cuisine made from fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. The restaurant has been operating under the skilful supervision of celebrity chef Peter Neo, who has owned other dining establishments such as Pietro Ristorante Italiano and Blend It Up.
Avid watchers of Channel 8’s food-centric shows may have also spotted Chef Peter Neo making his appearances.
Gustoso is as authentic as it gets, with a wood-fired oven for homemade pizzas that are baked to order in front of you. Mouthwatering choices include the Proscuitto di Parma ($22) and Pizza al Quattro Formaggi ($26).
The former is a classic pizza flavour, with delicious trips of prosciutto parma ham atop tomato base with mozzarella cheese and rocket salad. Cheese lovers will certainly delight in the latter’s blend of gorgonzola, parmesan, taleggio, and mozzarella cheese, which come together to create a drool-worthy, rich pizza flavour. Plus points if you’re after the slightly pungent aftertaste that is characteristic of cheese.
Another fixture of Italian cuisine, the Calzone, may be a thing of novelty for some diners. Resembling an over-sized curry puff, the sturdy pastry gives way to sticky, melted ricotta and mozzarella cheese, flavoured with morsels of honey baked ham, basil, and spinach. The citrusy notes of the accompanying tomato sauce cut through this richness.
Aside from wood-fire baked pizzas, diners can also indulge in Gustoso’s freshly-made pasta. The Pasta Fredda Capersante di Hokkaido al Tartufo ($45) makes for an indulgent starter, consisting of chilled angel hair pasta with Hokkaido scallop and Japanese seaweed. Flavoured with truffle oil, this subtle-tasting, artfully-plated dish is perfect for those seeking some indulgence.
Linguine Gustoso’s ($28) presents al dente flat spaghetti swathed in a parchment flavour with fresh seafood, including squid, prawns, clams and mussels. The added on garlic and fresh tomato sauce infused with a secret ingredient adds to the richness that is locked in by the parchment paper. Prepare to be greeted by pleasing and appetising aromas when you open up your treasure trove of seafood and pasta!
Fresh flavours await in the simple, yet satisfying Formaggio Halloumi Impanato ($20), a toothsome salad that combines mixed salad with mouthwatering selections of grapes, semi-dried tomatoes, and avocado. And for cheese lovers, indulge in a pairing of Halloumi and feta cheese that is scattered enticingly over the salad.
Last but not least, end on a sweet note with some Tiramisu Gustoso ($14). The layers of mascarpone cheese, espresso, savoiardi fingers, and coffee liquor, create a time-honoured dessert that will satiate the sweet-toothed.
With weekend crowds flocking to Gustoso regularly, it’s no secret that the Italian restaurant enjoys immense popularity with the neighbourhood. Head over for a quiet meal away from the hustle and bustle of town!
