Joe & Dough – Tasty Truffled Eggs & Skillet Baked Eggs at Plaza Singapura

Plaza Singapura has no lack of dining options especially with the influx of several new exciting outlets this year. With the addition of Joe & Dough at level 2, we can look forward to a space for meetings, tea break or even a resting spot after a whole day of shopping.

Founded in 2009, Joe & Dough has since evolved from simply selling coffee and sandwiches to a wide range of all-day breakfast, freshly baked breads, pastries and cakes. Besides having a cuppa with a small snack, we can now have fuller meals at reasonable prices too.

One of the signature cakes is the Gula Melaka Pandan Cake ($6 per slice, $52 per cake), launched since 2014 in celebration of National Day.

This pandan-infused butter cake was moist, slightly dense and topped with a luscious layer of gula melaka and desiccated coconut. Each bite was rewarded with a close whiff of the coconut fragrance and the sweetness of gula melaka – a pleasant taste of the combination, which explains why the cake has such a coveted spot at Joe & Dough.

The 63° Sous Vide Truffled Eggs with Toast $6.90 on the menu got my soul hooked on it.

Joe & Dough gave our local breakfast of soft-boiled eggs with soy sauce and pepper an appetising twist. Introducing their rendition of this popular favorite, the eggs were pampered in a sous-vide bath with truffle-infused umami-rich dashi stock before being sprinkled with pink sakura ebi and a dollop of caviar.

Even the multi-grain bread deserved a mention. I totally adored the tasty melted thyme-garlic butter and crusty side. It was that addictive.

Joe & Dough does a mean skillet baked eggs.

The Skillet Baked Eggs with Bratwurst $12 tickled my taste bud with the thick tangy tomato sauce. Portion was hearty with a good mix of chicken bratwurst, brown mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and chili beans, while topped with runny eggs, melted cheese with over-toasted chewy edges and spicy sriracha sauce. I would mop down every morsel of these with the multi-grain bread served together

The Skillet Baked Eggs with Grilled Vegetables $10.90 is also available as a vegetarian option.
