Kakigori KL Cafe – Japanese Shaved Ice Dessert at The Gardens Mall

Kakigori is a Malaysian dessert cafe that serves affordable Japanese desserts. Expect to find a huge range of Japanese sweet treats such as the signature Shaved Ice, Roll Cakes, Warabimochi, Melonpan, Soft Serve and Milk Tea.

Their Kakigori is a huge dome-shaped shaved ice that comes in various flavours. I spotted several unique ones like the Watermelon with Rose Espuma RM19, Uji Matcha Brulee RM19, Chestnut Milk RM18 and the Elderberry & Elderflower Espuma RM19.

Sounds so good we would have ordered them. Nonetheless we chose the Elderberry & Elderflower Espuma and Hojicha Kakigori RM17 as we already had several meals in the day for our KL trip.

I love the shaved ice from Kakigori, fine and soft it was like eating air. Taste-wise, the Hojicha was evident throughout the shaved ice and it came with an extra shot for us to pour over. There were even chestnut bits within.

While my friend preferred the Hojicha, I love the Elderberry & Elderflower Espuma!

Being yogurt-based, there was a good blend of sweet and sourness in each mouthful. Overall it wasn’t as sweet as expected, instead being more refreshing on the palette. Recommended!

Spotted the Matcha Roll cake RM10 per slice and I knew we had to try this.

I thought that the sponge cake was a tad dry but the generous amount of filling saved the dish with its smooth and rich intensity. For the price, it equated to SGD $3 plus which would have easily fetched a higher price point in Singapore. Still a worthy eat!

Kakigori is one of my favourite place in KL. Their dessert flavours are on point and pricing is alright. We visited their second outlet at The Garden Mall, a cafe with minimalist decor. Kakigori also sells Matcha/Chiba Sweet Potato Soft Serve RM8 which customers could easily order for takeaway.
