KL Traditional Chilli Ban Mee at Macpherson with Lobster, Abalone and 5 Spicy Levels

KL Traditional Chilli Ban Mee serves more than just your usual ban mee (aka ban mian). Starting with the original Signature Chilli Ban Mee $5, you get a satisfying bowl of thick chewy noodles, meatballs and onsen egg, topped with a splash of crispy ikan bilis and fried shallots. 

Mixed it all together and in between each mouthful, it was a combination of crunchiness and chewiness. As for the onsen egg, it broke apart to release a beautiful golden stream. I was glad that the noodles was not too dry and each bowl came with a cup of soup too.

Feel like indulging in a little more? The Lobster Abalone Chilli Ban Mee $20 was the special of the day. Filled with a luxurious abundance of ingredients, there were the baby lobster, abalone, scallops, razor clams, meatballs, onsen egg, ikan bilis and fried shallots. For the amount and variety of seafood, it’s not bad afterall!

Another popular dish that’s also affordably-priced is the Signature Abalone Combo Chilli Ban Mee $13, similar to the one above but without lobster.

Other menu items include their recommended Signature Hand-made Fishball Noodle $5 and Minced Pork Noodle $5. You can also order just the soup such as the Hand-made Fish Dumpling/Meatball/Fish Dumpling Soup $4 and Signature Abalone Combo Soup $13 too.

For each order, you can help yourself to the five levels of Home-made Stir-fried Dried Chilli. Take your pick from the least spicy level one to the tongue-numbing spicy level five and simply add on to your chilli ban mee.

The dried chilli was delicious; being fragrant with crispy bits. It added a nice crunchy texture to the overall taste. I would have loved to bring a bottle of it home!
