Lime Restaurant Sunday Brunch Buffet Promo at PARKROYAL on Pickering

Just exactly two years ago, I was having my Sunday brunch at Lime Restaurant at PARKROYAL on Pickering. I still remembered vividly the 63 degree sous vide Lobster Egg Benedict, drenched in spice hollandaise and a dollop of Ikura, which I unabashedly helped myself to three servings. It was that potent mess of gooey yolk paired with a succulent lobster claw that had me reminiscing an old flame till date.

Fast forward to 2018, CHOPE, an online reservation site, is offering an exclusive 20% off for all buffet at Lime Restaurant. Instead of the usual price of $82++ per adult, it is now $65.60++.

The Sunday brunch at Lime is a four-hour dining from 12:30PM to 4:30PM, longer than most hotel brunch buffets. Walking in, the interior of Lime never fail to spellbound me with the spaciousness the high ceiling has brought forth, the full length glass windows bringing in the natural sunlight and the sense of tranquility from the lush greenery surrounding the hotel.

We were greeted by the vast array of colourful dessert at the entrance, followed by a long stretch of live stations, cooked dishes and then a salad and seafood bar towards the end. The buffet was also inclusive of tea, coffee and juices which we could help ourselves to.

Like many diners, we lunged straight for the seafood. The lobsters and oysters arranged neatly on ice were crowd-favourites, especially the freshly shucked oysters which were large and plump. Even the salmon sashimi was sliced thick and fresh.

The lobster egg benedict was replaced by the Scrambled Egg vol-au-vent at the live station. There was what I believed to be hints of truffle in the fillings and crispy soft shell crab, Ikura and caviar as toppings. The scrambled egg wasn’t the creamy type and while I ate it right after it was prepared, the dryness of the insides and crust did nothing to justify the lost of my beloved egg benedict (in fact, I came across the review of a famous blogger mentioning the egg benedict just this January). As for the toppings, they were decent and those were what I could finish.

The other two dishes served on the spot were the Raclette Cheese with Pork Garlic and Smoke Chicken Sausages and Pan Seared Foie Gras with Caramelised Apple and Passion Fruit. While the former was heavier on the tastebud from the savouriness of the thick chewy cheese and sausages, the later was fat-laden tenderness with sweet accompaniments.

A little further down and we found some local specialities that involve woks and asian ingredients.

The Claypot Rice was tasty with soy sauce and chicken. The ala minute Laksa boosted a rich creamy broth brimmed with noodles, quail eggs and fried beancurd, and fortunately not too spicy for my non-spicy eating companion.

There were also Satays, Peking Duck Roll, Sweet and Sour Pork, Braised Pork Belly, and Chilli Oil Clams and Cod Fish in Bamboo Steamers.

Meats such as the Roasted Pork, Lamb Rack, Beef and a humongous Baked Salmon were displayed at the carving station too.

Lime is famous for their Matcha Chocolate Fondue, an attractive green fountain cascading with matcha chocolate perfect for dipping condiments like marshmallows, biscuits and gummy candies in.

Another interesting part of the dessert was the live roasting of marshmallows over a makeshift fire place. As authentic as it looked, the roasting could be carried out by the diners directly. After roasting, what I got were very soft, fluffy marshmallows, further dipped into the matcha sauce for the ultimate experience!

Dainty Tiramisu Cups, Lemon Meringue Tarts, Flower Cupcakes, Strawberry Shortcakes and mini Shooters were amongst some of the desserts found at the buffet line too. Don’t miss the luxuriously smooth Nitro Ice Cream and asian delights like the Durian Pengat too.

There is also a butler going to each and every table whipping up delicious crepe suzette doused in a Grand Marnier-infused, sweet and tangy sauce.
