Nesuto Patisserie Cafe – Christmas High Tea, Scones & Log Cakes in Tanjong Pagar

Nesuto Patisserie is a humble cafe along Tras Street with a lovely decor. I would have sat here for hours were it to be hushed and half-emptied, with a dainty glossy-looking cake and a book in hand. The handsome tableware set the mood for a pampered afternoon tea session and I was already looking forward to it the moment I sat down.

It is the Christmas season and Nesuto has rolled out an Enchanted Winter High Tea set for two at $70.80 from 1 November 2018 to 31 January 2019. The three-tier stand would be filled with a series of savouries and sweets, signature scones and a refillable teapot.

Not only does Nesuto offers high tea, it also specialises in cakes as can be seen from the array of beautiful cakes within the cold case. If you are looking for baking classes, organising an event/catering or having a dessert table, Nesuto provides the services too.

The high tea comes with Salmon Beetroot Basket, Chicken & Mushroom Tartlet, Chicken & Egg Mayo Croissant and Tomato & Onion Tarte Flambé

The Salmon Beetroot Basket was a hearty portion of confit salmon and smooth cream cheese layered within the beetroot-infused waffle basket, with an addition of tobiko. It was a bliss to savour it in one mouthful.

Came highly recommended was the Chicken & Mushroom Tartlet with a subtle yet promising taste of summer truffle paste mixed within. One’s not enough!

Moving on to the sweets, we had the Brandy Fruit Cake, Strawberry Tart, Milk Chocolate Cherry Almond Trifle and Pistachio Macaron.

The Pistachio Macaron was creatively made to look festive with its solid green and red macaron shells.

Milk Chocolate Cherry Almond Trifle was decent though the mini cup was too small to prevent the crumbs from escaping the moment I poked the spoon in.

My favourite was the Scones with Mascarpone and Homemade Berry Compote. These darlings’ gonna be on my list alongside the ones from Tea Lounge and Les Brasserie.

It had the texture I love, not overly chewy nor doughy, neither was it too crumbly that made it messy to be eaten. Instead of clotted cream, Nesuto uses mascarpone cream for the scones which are paired with the homemade cranberry orange compote, adding a nice touch on the acidity.

Log cakes are available for online orders as well.

The chocolatey Noél Decadence $88 boasts a dark chocolate roulade while the Oh Santa! $88 would freshen your palate with the soft vanilla souffle sponge, rolled up with blueberry compote and luscious lemon mascarpone cream.

The Enchanted Winter High Tea is available daily from 12pm to 5pm. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance.
