Our Tampines Hub presents GET UP Event to Boost Employability in a Digitalised World this 7 & 8 July
In a globalising world, technology is always developing to improve and enhance the standard of living. With more and more things become digitalised, be it in transactions or classroom education, we will need to keep up with trends so as to integrate well into the society.
Herein lies the question of how well-prepared are we to embrace these changes in our economy. As time progresses, will we still have the necessary skillset to remain employable in our workplace; are we able to effortlessly complete a cashless payment or even make orders through a computerised ordering system?
Whether it is yourself, your family members or friends, embark on a fun and educational journey at Our Tampines Hub this 7th and 8th July for a holistic program of workshops, sharing sessions by industry leaders and hands-on booths. Known as Get Equipped To Unleash Your Potential (GET UP), this inaugural digitalised marketplace is organised by the North East Community Development Council (CDC) with the aim to equip residents with the relevant skills.
The digital marketplace is divided into five zones:
SkillsFuture Advice, Networking Sessions, Professional Workshops, Employment Opportunities and Experience New Technologies.
Particularly Zone 5 (Experience New Technologies), get insights on how technology is changing our lives in terms of work (e.g. e-payments) and play.
Participate in a series of experiential activities (play) that include:
Booth 1: GoFlyKite
Learn how to fly a RC (radio control) kite, especially those that come with colorful LED lights to brighten up your night.
Booth 2: Ignite VR
Immerse yourself in VR activities organised by Ignite VR where they conceptualise and create physical spaces to present these experiences. One such example is through the playing of VR games.

Booth 3: Thinker Academy
Teens are taught using interactive online training at Thinker Academy. Besides preparing them for the digitalised world, it also helps them to cope with their studies.

Booth 4: Kodecoon
Look forward to activity booth where kids get to programme their Avenger game using a MIT-developed software’s drag-and-drop programming and a “Create Your Own Website” workshop where participants can learn how to create basic websites using HTML, CSS and more.
