Pandora’s Garden – Singapore’s First Rosé Bar in a cosy garden at Ann Siang House
If you love the idea of a bar hidden in nature, then Pandora’s Garden, Singapore’s first ever Rosé Bar that serves specialty rosés along with other alcoholic drinks, is just for you. Its entrance signage is pretty eye-catching, but when you enter the little stylish space on the second floor, you’ll feel like you’re in a quiet, secret garden.
When night falls, a retractable roof opens up like an unboxing, and twinkling fairy lights are turned on along the entire area and especially on the centrepiece, the frangipani tree. This combination of simple magical effects earned the name Pandora’s Garden for this bar!
“But I don’t know much about rosé!” you may think to yourself. Don’t fret if you feel like you can’t tell the difference between a white wine or a rosé, or whether it is made by mixing red and white wines together. The friendly staff at Pandora’s Garden will fill you in with all your curious questions about rosé – simply feel free to ask them.
For starters though, a common misconception is that rosé is made by ‘blending’ red and white wine. This is actually far from the truth, though partially true (but not accepted as an official practice)! The most common rosé production method is the maceration of red grape varieties in which the skin is still left intact for as long as 12 to 24 hours to achieve the “blush” colour it is known for.
Rosés are a refreshing treat, perfect for Singapore’s all year round sunny weather. Unlike having to wait for summer to come around in Europe, our tropical weather allows us to sip this delicious rosé any time we like!
(Refreshing bucket of rosé wines chilled to perfection!)
(“Anna Codornio” is a sweet, sharp, tangy flavored sparkling rosé wine, usually served first)
(“Little Black Dress” – one of the most popular rosé wines here in Pandora’s Garden for its deeper, rounder, and sweeter taste!)
Of course, if you’re looking to have a leisurely drink in a lovely, cosy space with a few friends, a regular glass of rosé starts at $12 per glass or $41 per bottle. Other quirky sizes like “Magnum” (1.5 litres) and “Jeroboam” (3 litres) are also available.
Bar snacks at Pandora’s Garden are specially made to pair well with the drink offerings, expect picnic style food such as cured meats, premium cheeses, British pork pies, homemade Jägermeister paté, and a Ploughman’s board, served with artisanal bread, crackers, chutney, fruit, and nuts.
(They certainly go quite well with the rosé wines – remember to fill up your stomachs before having these drinks!)
(Pandora’s Garden has a large selection of 35 different rosé wines.)
Jamie and Jasmine Gripton, the proud husband and wife owners have procured a sizeable collection of rosé wines that include Whispering Angel’s L’Esclans Gamus (SGD$535/bottle) named “The Greatest Rosé” ever by James Suckling, one of the world’s most influential wine critics.
Very special and rare rosé champagnes such as Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé and 2007 Krug Rosé are also available at SGD$1,888 and SGD$888 respectively.
Also, be on the lookout for the weekly Blush Ladies Night on Wednesdays in which Bach Rosé, Anna Sparkling Rosé, Aperol Spritz, Pimms and Sangria flow freely for $30+ from 6pm-8pm!
