These very cute piggy mooncakes are made with a soft mochi skin encasing a layer of lotus paste and a sweet and savoury egg yolk custard at its core. Being low-sugar, I can totally indulge in this with less guilt!

Voted by The Straits Time in 2011 as ‘The BEST Flaky Pastry Teochew-style Yam Mooncakes’, the Original Ex-Crown Prince Flaky Teochew ‘Orh Ni’ Mooncakes are different from the usual traditional baked skin and snow skin.
Reminding me of our local snack Tau Sar Piah (mung bean biscuits), the flakey Teochew mooncake is covered with a thin flakey layer and generously filled with rich and creamy orh ni (yam paste).
Both flavoured mooncakes are beautifully defined with the former having a light sweet taste while the latter, a marriage of sweet and saltiness.
