Puteca Abate Italian Street Food and Deli Sandwich Bar has 14 different panini (The Working Capitol)

Puteca Abate is a newly established Italian street food and deli sandwich bar along Keong Saik Road. The outlet occupies the first level of The Working Capitol and is separated into two seating area; you can choose to relax in the cushy couches or at the high table where the aromas of freshly toasted breads linger.

Sequestered in one corner of the outlet, lovers of Italian food will be stoked to find packets, bottles and jars of premium Italian products comprising of Italian-imported pasta, truffle paste, exquisite olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

The hot panini are Puteca Abate’s signature products. There are up to 14 different kinds of filling to choose from and prices range between $7.80 to $12.80. We were told that their breads, similar to the croissants, are sourced from Italy, flown in frozen and only heated up upon order.

We tried the Polpette $12.80, which comes with Jumbo meatballs topped with melted mozzarella cheese and shredded onions. The meatballs are surprisingly tender and juicy, sandwiched between ciabatta.

The Pollo E Pesto $12.80 was equally tasty. The highlight of this sandwich is in the pesto sauce, creamy and sharp in basil taste, slathered generously over a slab of grilled chicken thigh fillet which I thought was slightly on the tough side.

Besides sandwiches, Puteca Abate also serves Antipasti like cured meats and cheese board, salad, pizzas, pastas, desserts and seasonal specials like the Porchetta (crackling good roasted pork belly served with side salad $12.80).
