Michelin-starred PUTIEN’s Oyster Festival serves oysters in 6 way

The three-year holder (2016, 2017 and 2018) of the Michelin one-star, PUTIEN restaurant at the Kitchener Road outlet is extremely popular amongst locals for its quality dishes and pretty solid consistency. There’s no theatrical cooking; each dish is carefully thought through and humbly presented. This is good enough to draw crowds in and justify queues, yet without missing a heartbeat, PUTIEN continues to launch seasonal promotions every now and then to put something equivalent on your table.

If you are one to pursue the pleasures of sea gems, PUTIEN’s Oyster Festival is bound to get you emotionally hard with the nutritious oyster darlings cooked in 6-ways! Available from 10 December 2018 to 31 March 2019 (except 15-19 January 2019), this is the best suited time for oyster harvesting and you are bound to hail the good ones for sure.

Enjoy any two oyster dishes at a special price of $33.80 (T&C applies).

Fresh Seasoned Oysters $16.90

Taste these oysters as close to their original flavours as possible. They were plump and juicy.

Seaweed Oysters with Fried Eggs $18.90

This was one of my favourite featured here. It reminded me of the oyster orh luah but with an addition of First Harvest seaweed that stole the limelight. It might appear dry but the seaweed was actually quite moist with a crunch.

Seaweed with Crispy Oysters $18.90 (S) $24.90 (M)

If there’s seaweed chicken, why can’t there be seaweed oysters?

These black masses of seaweed-wrapped oyster fried to a crisp were intriguing. You really can’t tell much from the exterior but it lured you in like a black hole.

The coating was thicker than I expected but flavourful while the inside remained firm and creamy. Each little morsel pulled off at being chewy and crunchy at the same time and it’s best to eat it while they are still hot.

Fujian Extraordinary Fried Oysters $16.90 (S) $25.90 (M)

The taste of the Fuzhou Oyster Cake/Crispy Prawn Cake swept into my mind the moment I bit into the Fujian Extraordinary Fried Oysters. I thought the taste was remarkably similar, inside doughy and outside a textural contrast of crispiness right down to the edges.

Salt & Pepper Crispy Oysters $18.90

Comes highly recommended is this Salt & Pepper Crispy Oysters which really can’t go wrong. The batter was thicker and heavier in shade than the previous, and they look so temptingly ready to be eaten with vigour.

Braised Oysters with Fragrant Basil $18.90

The deep-fried oysters were braised in a claypot of basil and garlic, fragrant and coated in glistening sauce; Add a piping bowl of rice and that would make your day.

Besides the seasonal specials, PUTIEN offers a plethora of dishes worth savouring too. Tuck into a hearty bowl of the Braised Bean Curd with Chinese Cabbage $19.90, the crowd-pleasing Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees $13.90 and last but not least, the satiating Lor Mee $9.80(s)!

Don’t miss out on the desserts too from the Golden Rice Cake S$9.90 (3 pcs), Hot Yam Paste Gingko Nut S$4.90, Chilled Lemongrass Jelly with Fruits S$4.90 and Chilled PUTIEN Loquat in Herbal Jelly S$5.90!
