Seowon Juk 서원죽, Seoul – Abalone Porridge in Myeongdong

Traditional Korean porridge restaurant, Seowon Juk 서원죽, is a famous breakfast spot in Myeongdong that has been around since 1986.

The signature is the Premium Abalone Porridge KRW 24000. There are also Ginseng and Chicken Porridge KRW 17000, Mushroom and Oyster Porridge KRW 16000 and Shrimp Porridge KRW 16000.

For banchan, there are the homemade Squid and Octopus Kimchi and Beansprouts.

The Premium Abalone Porridge has more abalone slices than the original Abalone Porridge KRW 17000. It is complemented with sesame seeds, seaweed flakes and raw egg yolk.

The porridge is gooey and generous in portion. While it looks appetising, it is not as flavourful as expected.

The abalone slices, on the other hand, are nice and tender.
