Shin Minori: CNY 1 For 1 Yu Sheng and À La Carte Japanese Buffet With Over 160 Items
Shin Minori 新稔り, also known as New Harvest, is a Japanese restaurant offering both à la carte buffet and à la carte items. Ranging from sashimi, sushi rolls, tempura, hand roll to fried/grilled dishes, teppanyaki, rice bowls and soup, it is bound to satisfy any eaters out there. I remembered my first visit a few years back, and I was swept by the huge food spread available on the menu.
Located at level 3 of UE Square, Shin Minori is a rather intimate restaurant situated on a quiet floor. The interior can seat 170 diners in the dimly lit space. Ordering of food is done through an Ipad attached to each table. Order is rather swift and efficient, and can be done anytime with the Ipad so close at hand.
For this season, Shin Minori has launched a Large Harvest Yu Sheng ($69.90) that comes with 12 freshly sliced Salmon per platter and their house special apple ponzu plum sauce. As the name suggests, the huge Yu Sheng serves 8 to 10 pax, perfect for sharing among large families.
There is also a promotion where you can get 1 for 1 Large harvest Yu Sheng (only applicable for takeaway).

As for the buffet, we had several orders.
The Hamachi Sashimi were fresh and cut in thick slices. Very generous portion given and nicely plated!
Our favourites were the makimono: The Dragonfly Maki Roll (soft shell crab with eel and avocado) and Unagi Chizu Tanuki Maki (grilled eel with cream cheese and tempura bits). Both were creamy and tasty. Worth ordering a second portion!
Another sushi we had was the Maguro Mayo Sushi (chopped tuna with mayonnaise).
The fried dishes were equally appetising. The Tenpura Moriawase and Yasai Tenpura had us stuffed with pieces of prawns, mushrooms, pumpkin, fish and eggplant fried to a golden hue. The Ebi Tenpura, on the other hand, was coated in bread crumbs to create a different texture. Very crunchy.
Something unique we had was the Kani Tenpura, decribed as a ‘one mouth crab tempura’. Indeed, the tiny crabs were addictive enough to keep us popping one after another into our mouth.
Asuparagasu Be-kon Kuro Kosho (grilled asparagus wrapped in bacon with black pepper)
Tori Kawa Shioyaki (fried chicken skin)
Ika Kaarage (fried octopus)
Shisamo Yaki (grilled Pregnant Capelin)
Buta Kimchi Itame (grilled pork with kimchi).
Asari Shiru (clam soup)
Miso Shiru (Miso bean paste soup)
With just the two of us, we barely scrapped one quarter of the menu. That shows how much more food there are. Grab a few of your makan kakis along and you will be able to try more of the food items. Besides, the pricing is quite reasonable for the food spread and quality too!
