Spice World Hotpot 香天下火锅 Teddy Bear Butter & Barbie Doll Wagyu Beef

Spice World Hotpot aka Xiang Tian Xia Huo Guo 香天下火锅 is the latest addition to the hotpot scene in Singapore. What makes the hotpot here so intriguing is that you get to dine with the likes of Teddy Bear and Barbie Doll! Hotpot is no longer boring as Spice World Hotpot takes a bold twist to the usual hotpot dining experience with funky creations.

We chose the Yin Yang 2-flavour broth $22.90 – Tomato, and Mala (Hot and Spicy). The tomato broth was rich in flavour and contained lots of tomato pulps while the Mala was tongue-tickling but could be spicier.

What’s getting everyone excited is the addition of the Teddy Bear into the Mala soup to make it tastier, smoother and more fragrant. The Teddy Bear was essentially butter that melted in the hot soup. It was a wacky appeal to watch poor Teddy became human food.

Brace yourself for the moment of the day with an order of the Premium Barbie Wagyu Beef $38.90. The doll was draped in slices of wagyu beef around her torso, extending down the length of both arms.  Putting aside the uncanny stare of the doll, deserving of us for undressing her piece by piece, we felt more amused amidst the mixed bag of reactions.

Don’t get me wrong but the wagyu beef was worth having due to its beautiful marbling and tenderness after being cooked. Portion was quite reasonable as we had enough slices for the three of us.

Free-flow sauces and fruits are at additional charges.

We also had the Fish Paste $12.90, 2 portions of Pork Belly at $16.90 each, Lettuce $6,90, Kelp $6.90, an amazing portion of Mushroom Platter $18.90 and Dao Xiao Noodles $3.90. 

The fish paste was really delicious, soft and springy.

The broth at Spice World Hotpot simply got richer and more addictive the longer we ate. Service could be a tad more attentive in refilling our broth and drinks. One word of caution, the figures add up quickly so choose your ingredients wisely and you will be guaranteed a satisfactory quality meal.
