STRAY By Fatcat: Your Next Generation Of Desserts Come to Town
Yay! FATCAT Ice Cream Bar has expanded and opened a new outlet under the name of STRAY by Fatcat at the forth level of Orchard Central. Besides it’s conveniency in town, STRAY will have a slightly different concept from its sister outlet, offering savoury items, on top of cakes and plated desserts.
As STRAY is still in their soft launch stage, the full menu will be coming soon sometime in February.
For now, there are three mains on the menu such as the Salmon Yu-Sheng Bowl $20 and Salted Egg Chicken Waffle $21. If not, go for some light bites which is the STRAY Truffle Fries $12 topped off with Chinese spices.
Expect desserts to be their forte here as well. There are dainty cakes on display, and a menu consisting of plated desserts, soft serve and waffles. They also have a range of coffee, bottled cold brew, hand brew, tea, chocolate beverages and craft beers, to name a few.
Of which one of the chocoholic drinks I had was the Red Velvet Latte $6. A rather decent and smooth drink. Requested for a latte art and the barista presented me with a moustache bunny. Kudos for the extra effort there.
One of their signature is the Keep Popping $12 that comes with a unique set of three spheres.
Lime: Lime, Rum and Osmanthus
Lychee: Lychee, Rose and Lime
Blood: Mandarin, Shiraz and Lemon
The spheres come in bite-size portion which diners can simply pop into their mouth. The burst of the thin exterior layer allows the liquid within to flow out. Each one filled with surprises! To fully enjoy the experience, it is recommended to start from the lightest flavour, Lime, followed by Lychee and Blood.
Refreshing. Intriguing. And the Blood sphere tasted strongly of alcohol.
Does STRAY by Fatcat has what it takes to develop itself as the next generation of dessert master? Following FATCAT Ice Cream Bar’s success, fancy desserts seems like one of the area they are moving towards. One filled with surprises, pleasing to the eyes and belly as well. Now I am looking forward to the upcoming savoury food and more, hopefully mind-blowing, molecular gastronomy from them.
