Supply & Demand amazes with CNY Spicy Mala Pasta, Bak Kwa Pizza & Weekend Lobster Brunch
Supply & Demand is a casual Italian restaurant tucked away in the corner of Orchard Central, boosting an alfresco and laid-back indoor seating. Groove to the beats with live singing every Friday to Sunday, starting from as early as 1PM even in a Saturday. This is the time to drink and merry alongside with hearty brunch favourites.
In line with the Chinese New Year, Supply & Demand presents three festive dishes – S&D Yu Sheng Special, Spicy Bak Kwa Pizza and Spicy Mala Pasta not for the faint-hearted. These will be available at Supply & Demand Orchardgateway and Novena Lee Kong Chian outlets from now till 20 February 2019.
The S&D Yu Sheng Special (serves four, $38++; serves 8, $68++) comes with a choice of Smoked Salmon or fresh Salmon Sashimi. Fanned beautifully on a plate are Shredded Romaine Lettuce, Carrot Julienne, Radish Julienne, Cucumber Julienne, Cherry Tomatoes, Apple Julienne, Pear Julienne, Preserved Mango, Preserved Ginger, Candied Papaya and Bombay Onion.
Say the auspicious phrases as you toss in the condiments of Almond, Sesame, Olive Oil, Thai-inspired Sour Plum Dressing, Cinnamon Powder, Crunchy Strips and Fresh Lime.
Probably one of the best Yu Sheng I have this year, this S&D Yu Sheng Special is your healthier version with shredded vegetables and a dressing which is less sweet.
The best part of the Yu Sheng goes to this incredibly crispy and thinly sliced wanton skin fried into a mountain of gold. They were utterly great on the Yu Sheng delivering a whack of textures in the mouth.
And we are glad to have the crunchy snacks on the Spicy Bak Kwa Pizza (9-Inch, $25++; 13-Inch, $29++) too!
The open-faced thin crust pizza finds a spot in my belly with its lanky base that holds up a world of ingredients such as the meaty Pork Bak Kwa, Gammon Ham, Shaved Grana Padano, Pineapple Chunks and drizzles of Japanese Mayo. The Bird’s Eye Chilli dispersed across the surface, adding a fiery touch on the tongue should you bite into one.
Lovers of the spicy sichuan mala hotpot can seek comfort in this Spicy Mala Pasta in raging levels of Spicy, Extra Spicy and Super Spicy. We tried the Extra Spicy which was moderately spicy with a tingling numbness. Flavours were intensely satisfying.
Choose from Chicken & Mushroom $24.90++, Pork & Mushroom $25.90++ or Seafood $29.90++ with your desired pasta and it will be cooked with the Homemade Mala Sauce, Szechuan Peppercorns, Bird’s Eye Chilli, Habanero Chilli, Scotch Bonnet Chilli, Chilli Oil, Garlic, Eggplant, Cherry Tomato, Baby Spinach, Fried Chilli, Peanut and topped with Toasted Sesame and Fresh Cilantro.
On weekends, look forward to a plethora of seafood dishes like the Freshly Shucked Oysters $21.90, Grilled Squid $14.90, Scallop and Amaebi Capellini $24.90, Unagi Squid Ink Pasta $28.90 and Big Seafood Platter $59.90 to feast to your delight.
That impactful spicy kick of the chilli sauce that comes with the oysters is bound to catch everyone off guard. Definitely more potent that the tabasco.
Bless with the aromas of truffles, this chilled capellini was a true indulgence with dollops of umami-laden truffle paste, tender Amaebi shrimps and scallop tartare.
The Unagi Truffle Donburi $21.90 features a bountiful bowl of Charred Unagi Kabayaki, 63 Degree Egg, Salmon Cubes, Grilled Scallops, Eggplants, Tuna Tataki, Vegetables and Scallion on a bed of Truffled Japanese Rice.
Revel in the delicious chunks of lobster meats during brunch where you get to savour the likes of Truffle Cold Angel Hair $32.90, Creamy Lobster Brioche $29.90, Spicy Lobster Arrabiatta $34.90 and Lobster Furikake Lobster Pasta $36.90.
This generous portion of garlic-buttered lobster delicacy is accompanied with pasta tossed in homemade spicy garlic-infused tomato sauce. It’s flavoursome and makes a hearty meal.
Don;’t forget to grab one of those thirst-quenching frizzy coolers from their beverage menu too.
