Sushi Tei debuts Plant-based Menu with Sushi Roll, Omurice, ‘Fish’ Nuggets & more

Want to enjoy your favourite Japanese dishes in a sustainable manner? Sushi Tei has collaborated with homegrown brands, Country Foods and Growthwell Group, to release a new plant-based menu to cater to conscious diners and customers seeking a new taste adventure. Available till 13 October 2020!
A go-to market partner for launching sustainable, plant-based brands in Asia, Country Foods is a SATS subsidiary. While Growthwell Group is one of Southeast Asia’s leading manufacturers of plant-based alternatives, such as the OKK product line which features egg-free ingredients made with soy, mushroom, and konnyaku.
The new meat-free substitutes are pretty impressive, both visual and taste wise. Starters include the addictive Shokubutsu Fish Nugget ($9.80), whose fluffy texture and subtle tastes beats even the original. Coated with batter and deep-fried till it achieves a golden, crispy exterior, these nuggets have the added bonus of being naturally cholestrol-free, high in fibre, and low in calories!

The ever quintessential maki roll makes its appearance as the Shokobutsu BBQ Ham Roll ($7.80) and Shokobutsu Ebi Roll ($9.80). I was pretty impressed by how close the plant-based chicken ham and deep-fried prawn came to mimicking the real deal in taste and texture! Served with an enticing array of ingredients, the maki rolls make for a colourful side to share, and will definitely appeal to regulars.

For mains, turn to the earthy-tasting Shokubutsu Curry Omurice ($13.80) which features a clever use of mushrooms as braised beef. Blanketed in a runny omelette, this comforting dish fills you up nicely.

Along with Sushi Tei’s seasonal plant menu, diners can round up the meal with a new seasonal dessert, the Roasted Pisatchio Ice Cream ($4) which is rich with nutty flavours.

Still craving the real deal after all those plant-based treats? You can also savour the freshest catch of the day with some Sashimi “Kochi” 4 Kinds, which features the four classic sashimi flavours of salmon, scallop, hamachi, and chutoro for an affordable $26.80!
