Swee Heng 1989 Classic – Halal Bakery with Ondeh Ondeh Roll, Walnut Carrot Cake & Salted Caramel Cake in a cup
Swee Heng 1989 Classic, a brand under the popular halal Swee Heng Bakery, offers a range of baked goods as well as whole and slice cakes.
There’s currently three outlets in Woodlands – Causeway Point, Woods Square and Woodlands Thomson-East Coast Line, easily accessible to residents staying in the area.
I passed by the outlet at Woodlands TEL and the tempting array of cakes behind the cold display caught my attention.
I had the Ondeh Ondeh Roll $2.40, Walnut Carrot Cake $4.80, Salted Caramel $3.60 and Cheesecake. The sliced cakes are decently sized and affordably priced.
The Walnut Carrot Cake is exceptional with lots of carrots and chopped walnut, accompanied with a layer of smooth cream and moist spongy cake.
For something indulging, the Salted Caramel boasts a thick salted caramel ganache over soft and moist chocolate cake in a cup. The dessert is then crowned with sliced nuts, a dollop of salted caramel butter cream and drizzles of salted caramel sauce. It is rich in taste and reminds me of a snicker bar in cake version.
Meanwhile, the Ondeh Ondeh Roll resembles a Swiss roll and comes with a Gula Melaka-infused cake in the middle. It is also not too sweet and makes a great go-to snack for any time of the day.
