TEATHE1st Premium Ceremonial Matcha Oatmeal & Drinks Recipes

I have to say that matcha is besides just an undying trend but a necessity in life too, at least in mine. Singapore definitely has her fair share of matcha craze. Remember the chocolatey Godiva Matcha Soft Serve, the much-raved Tsujiri-honten Uji Matcha Soft Serve, Matcha parfait from Tsujiri, and Matcha Cheese Soft Serve and Matcha Cheese Tart from Pablo Cheese Tart. Some I queued, some I lamented at their minimal taste while some I wished they could be more than just a pop-up store.

I am glad to have found TEATHE1st. An online store that sells all things matcha – namely Premium Ceremonial Matcha and Beverage Matcha, I can now have my own matcha creations all within the comforts of my home.

TEATHE1st offers the Premium Ceremonial Matcha, which is one of the highest grade matcha 100% made from the bud of tencha matcha. When mix in water, the organic matcha assumes a colour of rich green and tastes bitter and smooth at the same time.

At 40g for $35, the price for the Ceremonial Matcha may seem steep but for you to finish the powder that fast would take some time. If you were to make small batches for drinking or for an occasional indulgence, only a small amount (e.g. as little as half a teaspoon) is required to create the ultimate matcha-ish effect.

Matcha Oatmeal

  1. Add half a tea spoon of matcha powder to a small amount of water and mix evenly
  2. Add more water depending on preference (i.e. the more water, the less strong the taste)
  3. Add a cup (140g) of yogurt and mix evenly
  4. Freeze the mixture for 20-40 minutes to create a cool, creamy texture
  5. Pour over a bowl of oats/granola
  6. Indulge!

Iced Matcha Beverage

  1. Add half a tea spoon of matcha powder to a small amount of water and mix evenly
  2. Add more water depending on preference (i.e. the more water, the less strong the taste)
  3. Add a cup (140g) of yogurt and mix evenly
  4. Freeze the mixture in an ice cube tray for 40-60 minutes
  5. Repeat step 1-2 to achieve a light matcha drink
  6. Stack the frozen matcha ice cubes in a glass
  7. Pour matcha drink (replaceable with milk or yogurt) over ice cube
  8. Drink away!

Matcha has many health benefits too. With 10 times more antioxidant than your usual green tea, Matcha detoxes, boosts metabolism, lowers cholesterol and most importantly, contains a potent class of antioxidant, Catechins, which helps to fight cancer too.
