The Alley 鹿角巷 Famous Taiwanese Bubble Tea in Malaysia & Singapore’s Jewel Changi Airport
Bubble Tea is hardly a dying trend. Living in the tropical part of Southeast Asia, the hot and humid weather has always left us thirsty and itching for a cooling drink in hand.
Similar to Singapore, Malaysia has her fair share of bubble tea kiosks sprouting up in every corner you walk.
One of which, The Alley 鹿角巷, is a name familiar to many Malaysians for its popular Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk RM12.90. From popular destinations like Johor to Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and even Penang, there’s no stopping you from making a dive for The Alley. Don’t be surprised to see the spacious cafe packed with bubble tea lovers too. Yes, the wait can take a while during the peak period.
Besides the typical Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk, you can have the flavoured ones such as the Brown Sugar Deerioca Matcha Latte RM13.90 and Brown Sugar Deerioca Creme Brulee Milk RM14.90.
There’s also the specialty teas, White Velvet series, Milk Tea series, Fresh Tea series and the Aurora series where the drinks come in bottles that showcase its vibrant colours.
With all the hype going on, I decided to try it in Melaka.
It was instant love! I like the contrast of the hot brown sugar boba at the base and cool milk at the top. Some brown sugar milk tea in other places was milder in comparison. The boba had a nice texture, not overly chewy but soft and easy to swallow; whereas the milk was thin and not overpowering (I usually dislike the thick milky taste and smell). All in all, the various elements simply pair well with one another.
Good news is that The Alley has just recently opened it’s first outlet in Singapore, at Jewel Changi Airport!
