Tocha Bistro at Hotel Boss – Affordable Happy Hours and Western Grubs

Tocha Bistro at Hotel Boss is a newly opened bistro/bar in Lavender, serving Western grubs alongside an extensive drinks selection from a well stocked outdoor bar. Coined the Crazy Hour, Happy Hour occur between 5PM – 6PM daily with beer buckets affordably priced at only $25 per half dozen!

The alfresco area seats 80 pax, perfect for gathering, outdoor soccer screening and chilling in the night along the Rocher River.

The menu is extensive, offering almost anything under the sun. There are appetisers, snacks, combo platters to various kinds of meats like beef, pork, chicken, fish and lamb, not forgetting the burgers, sausages, pizzas and pastas. Definitely spoilt for choice here!

The Tiger Prawn with White Wine Sauce $13.80 came with three juicy prawns cooked in a very flavoursome pasta. Texture of noodles was just nice, al dente, and not overly dry.

The carnivore in you will be super thrilled to know that for main courses, Tocha Bistro would spoilt you for choice with the huge variety.

There are four types of beef on the menu and we had the Tenderloin Steak $28.80 served with Mash Potatoes, Baby Carrots and Vine Tomatoes. Every single component on the plate was really tasty, especially the homemade Black Pepper Sauce.

If you love to have your steak with a lot of black pepper, the sauce would made a robust addition to your meat.

The Iberico Pork $22.80 was our table’s favourite. The meat was surprisingly juicy while the marinated spinach had a galicky taste to it. For those who prefer their food with a stronger taste, this dish is for you.

I am not exactly a fish person but mind you, this was actually really good. The Grilled Cod Fish $19.80 was served with crispy skin and very moist flesh that literally melted in the mouth. If only portion could be bigger, this dish would have been perfect!

Besides the Lamb Rack $22.80, Tocha Bistro also whips up the huge Braised Lamb Shanks affordably priced at only $16.80. While I thought the meat could be a bit more tender, the gravy, on the other hand, was luscious and thick yet not overpowering.

With Happy Hours from 5PM to 6PM, it is great to pair your drinks starting with some bar grubs such as the fried Spicy Mid-wings $8.80 for ten pieces, Onion Rings $7.80 and Steakhouse Fries with Nacho Cheese $9.80.

The homemade sambal belachan to dip the chicken wings in was super shiok with the tongue-tingling spiciness!

The bar hosts an astounding selection of alcohol, even the popular Japanese Whiskies such as Hibiki and Yamazaki. As night falls, you would find this place a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Cocktails start from as low as $12 onwards. Featured is the Waterfall $28, a beautiful glow against the darken skies.
