Tokyo Secret VS Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart – Malaysia, Johor Travels
Tokyo Secret
Surely while we Singaporeans wait for Pablo cheese Tart to make its grand appearance at Wisma Atria, the cheese tart craze persists in Malaysia. Homed to cheese tart brands like Tokyo Secret, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart and Pablo Cheese Tart, it is really tempting to simply cross the border for a cheese tart fix.
One of the cheese tart brand closer to home is Tokyo Secret, with an outlet at Johor Bahru City Square, right near the Malaysia custom.
Fortunately when I was there, all three flavours were still available.
My favourite was the Matcha x Hanjuku Cheese Tart with a surprising interior of mochi and red bean. The soft cheese texture coupled with a bit of chewiness gave way to several layers of flavours in the mouth.
The Original Hanjuku Cheese Tart wasn’t as flowy as I had expected it to be. Enjoyed the light texture which was also not too overwhelming against the crumbly crust.
Fans of chocolate would enjoy this Hazelnut x Hanjuku Cheese Tart. Rich chocolate and cheese filled the middle while the top was sprinkled with a generous amount of nuts.

Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart
I had this about two/three months back and there was the Original and Durian flavours.
Since my family loves durian, I bought a box of Durian Cheese tarts.
The durian wasn’t overpowering the cheese and I could taste the smooth consistency of the fillings as I bit in. It had the right kind of half molten texture, not too dry nor watery.

Verdict:
Tokyo Secret VS Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart
Tokyo Secret Cheese Tarts are slightly sweeter in comparison with a more crumbly crust. Furthermore, I could detect more of the cheesiness in Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts. Though the crust of Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts are a tad tougher, the fillings have a smoother velvety texture that coats perfectly round the tongue.
Personally I would prefer Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart though I also enjoyed Tokyo Secret’s Matcha Cheese Tart as well. Perhaps just get both 🙂
