Tsujiri: Matcha Tea House For Lovers of All Desserts Green
All hail green food.
A toast to the green lovers out there who enjoy all things green.
But don’t turn green with envy yet! With three outlets in Singapore, currently Centrepoint, 100AM and Central, conveniently located in town and CBD districts, there is no excuse to stop you from getting your hands on one of these yummy delights.
With a long history dated back to 1860, Tsujiri was founded by Riemon Tsuji in Uji in Kyoto, Japan. Under his leadership and influence, he went on to create the best tea for the Gyokuro tea leaves.
The menu features a wide range of selection from matcha tea, latte, ice blended, floats to soft ice cream, parfaits and shaved ice. Besides matcha, there are also Genmaicha, Houjicha and Yuzu flavours. Daily cakes on display include the O-matcha Chiffon Cake ($4.80) which makes a great afternoon tea-break snack too.
The O-matcha Tsujiri Shaved Ice ($7.80) was a huge cup of layered matcha shaved ice with matcha ice cream. As I dug in, each scoop was filled with the crunchy ice alongside smooth creamy soft serve. The mochi balls were chewy while the red bean paste was rich with the bits of red bean. Well worth the dollar for the amount and it could get quite filling too!
As fans of Yuzu, we had the Yuzu Shaved Ice ($4.80 Small, $7.20 Large) to try. The ice was infused with the sweet and sourish taste of the Yuzu which made it rather refreshing. It felt like eating Ice Kacang with Yuzu flavours. Simple yet a lovely dessert.
For those who enjoy eating ice cream, you can get the Soft Serve ($5) which comes in either O-matcha or Houjicha flavours. And I got a really long serving of this 🙂
Not your very bitter and rich matcha, but slightly sweeter in taste with a smooth finish. I love how it melted over my tongue with the chilling touch.
An alternative would be the Shiratama Parfait ($7.80) which comprised of several mochi balls, red bean paste and matcha ice cream. You get a great combination of red bean and matcha; heavier on the palate, and with the mochis that one simply couldn’t get enough of.
