27 march 2017 marks the day of the inaugural Awards Of Excellence Presentation Ceremony and World Gourmet Summit (WGS) Opening Reception, held at One Farrer Hotel & Spa.

Celebrating its 21st year run is the theme United Nations Gastronomic Assembly (UNGA), bringing together gourmands and aficionados in Singapore from 20 March to 16 April. With the continued mission to recognise and nurture local and international culinary talents from at least 16 countries, it is no wonder that the WGS event is the talk of town this season.

There are five main voting categories: Chef Awards, Establishment and Hospitality Awards, Wine Awards, Industry Awards, Chef’s Choice Awards and Recognition Awards.

After the ceremony, guests are entitled to explore the culinary arena featuring a wide array of tantalising gastronomic spread. Stretching as far as the eye could see are gourmet food ranging from bite-sized portions, shooters, intricately plated small dishes to carved meats and dessert.

Indulge in unlimited glasses of Bottega, cocktails, spirits and wine, while paired with some cheese and charcuterie as well.

The food spread was amazing. Not only was the entire culinary journey a feast to the eyes, it was also a sensational and experimental one. Trying out the various kinds of cuisine such as Mediterranean, Turkish, Indian and Argentine; Exchanging conversation with the chefs; Understanding your reds and whites from wine connoisseurs.

WGS 2017 just gets better and better each year.

Having attended WGS 2016 and 2017, I daresay both are indeed fulfilling experiences.
