Octapas Spanish Bar Clarke Quay – Signature Paella, Tapas & Live Band
A recent trip to Octapas had me piling my plate with paella while grooving to the beat.
It was only a Tuesday night but the energy was high and running. That night, our ears were blessed with songs from Mama Mia!.
Octapas is a Spanish tapas bar that has been operating in Clarke Quay for years. Like most restaurant-bars and pubs within the vicinity, there is no lack of live entertainment in its premise.
Over high tables, we digged into Octapas’ signature paella such as the Negra $37 and Valenciana $43, best paired with a glass of red or white sangria.
The Negras features a generous portion of squids on a bed of squid-ink rice while the Valenciana delights with a luxurious spread of prawns, mussels, squids, fish, chorizo and chicken.
Another must-try is the Camarones Y Tostadas $12. The luscious spread of shrimps adds a layer of creaminess and texture to the toasted baguette.
Also good for sharing, the selection of seafood and meat tapas will leave you spoilt for choice.
Not to be missed are the classic Calamares Fritos (deep-fried squid rings) $14, Gambas Al Ajillo (prawns in garlic and olive oil) $18, Mejillones Y Chorizo Con Tomate Salsa (mussels and chorizo in tomato stew) $15, Lomo Al Ajillo (beef tenderloin in garlic and olive oil) $18.50 and the Croquetas Y Jamon (Jamon Iberico croquettes) $14
*Octapas’ Paella Valenciana is awarded one of the top 20 in the Singapore River Signatures.
The Singapore River Signatures 2019 edition features the best 20 dishes from F&B establishments located along the Singapore River. The winning dishes are chosen by a panel of four judges based on four criteria – taste, plating, originality and value for money.
