108 Matcha Saro’s Matcha Obanyaki & Soft Serve Dessert in Suntec City West Wing

Suntec City Mall‘s newly revamped west wing now houses a premium matcha dessert shop. 108 Matcha Saro is hailed in from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, offering a decent range of matcha desserts from soft serve, parfaits and obanyaki to signature beverages, and other Japanese snacks like warabi mochi.

The selection is wide enough to warrant a few more return trips to taste different items off the menu.

Launched during the mid-autumn festive period, these limited edition Obanyakis resemble mooncakes with a Japanese feel and taste. They are priced between $2.90 to $3.50 each and come in five flavours.

Reminiscent of our traditional mooncakes, the white mochi sits in place of the salted egg yolk, while the custard/red bean paste replaces the lotus paste. What an amazing creation and the filling is very generous too.

There is the standard Hokkaido Soft Serve priced at $4.90 per cone while Matcha/Hojicha Mini Parfait starts at $6.90. An upgrade to more ingredients such as Warabi Mochi, Matcha Jelly and Soybean Powder brings each parfait to $7.90 or $8.50.

The 108 Matcha Love Parfait $8.50 is an all-matcha dessert with a matcha jelly base and toppings of chewy white mochi, matcha warabi mochi and matcha syrup.

The matcha soft serve is dense and creamy, and might get too overwhelming halfway through. I suppose it would be better to try with the Hojicha flavour.
