88 Seoul BBQ, Serangoon Gardens – Korean BBQ Restaurant for Duroc Pork and Cheese Dakgalbi with DIY Tuna Rice Ball

Korean barbeque restaurant, 88 Seoul BBQ, has recently opened in Serangoon Gardens. Offering a new dining option for residents in the northeast area, its speciality dry-aged Duroc pork takes centre stage for its thick, quality meat cuts. 

The spacious 85-seater restaurant housed a dry-ageing chiller where diners may marvel at the rows of meat in the process of dry-ageing. For about three weeks, these meats are exposed to the air in a controlled environment so as to achieve an enhanced flavour and texture.

Other signature meats on the menu include Beef Short Rib (180g) $46.88, Pork/Beef Rib Finger (180g) $28.88, Marinated La Galbi $38.88 and Boneless Chicken Neck (150g) $28.88.

The meats are available a la carte and in sets (from $58.88). Each set also comes with a steamed egg and your choice of kimchi or soy bean stew. The kimchi stew is packed with kimchi and huge slices of pork belly.

Menu

The 88 Pork Set C $65.88 comprising of Dry-Aged Pork Belly (180g), Dry-Aged Pork Collar (150g) and Pork Jowl (100g) is good for two.

The staff will grill the meats at the table upon request and you can opt to have them crispier (with the charred edges). The meats are thick and fatty, while the grilled pork jowl is especially juicy.

Banchan is free-flow and consists of kimchi, pickled radish, onions, fish cake, sausage and potato salad.

Complementing the bbq is a variety of tantalising korean dishes and stews.

Think Spicy Stir-Fried Octopus $38.88, Seafood Pancake $18.88, Stir-Fried Chicken Gizzard $18.88, Spicy Seafood Oden Soup $35.88 and Ginseng Chicken Soup $28.88.

The Cheese Dakgalbi with Tuna Rice Ball $29.88 is a hearty portion. You get to roll your own rice ball with the ingredients (mentaiko, tuna, seaweed, mayonnaise and rice) and pair it with the cheesy dakgalbi – a generous serving of saucy diced chicken with vegetable medley and stretchy cheese. 

Meanwhile, tantalise your tastebuds with the Spicy Cold Noodle $16.88 – a refreshing cold sensation accompanied by a mixture of sweet, spicy and tanginess in the dish.
