Alter Ego’s New Menu of Poke Kueh Pie Tee, Rendang Grilled Cheese, Skewers & $5 Beers
Alter Ego at the Esplanade Mall has got several new additions to its menu. Featuring its new range of loaded fries, a cheesy rendang sandwich, poke-turned kueh pie tee and more, brunch has become more exciting with innovative creations and Asian-fusion dishes, alongside $5 beers all-day long.
Menu
4 types of Loaded Fries
Imagine a deconstructed cheeseburger lovingly served as a tray of Chilli Cheeseburger Fries $16. The chunky potato fries are laced in three-cheese sauce and nacho cheese then draped with a layer of chilli con carne. The meaty indulgence alongside cheesy goodness is one of my favourite pairings.
I would strongly recommend the Curried Salted Egg Yolk Fries $14. This is nothing like the usual thick grainy salted egg yolk sauce. Instead, it is lighter and spreads evenly across the fries. There’s a hint of sweetness and spiciness where the combination makes it even more addictive and less jelat.
Other loaded fries worth mentioning include the all-time popular Pizza Fries $14 and Mexicano Taco Fries $16.
Poke Kueh Pie Tee
Here comes the Poke Kueh Pie Tee $12 with your choice of poke such as Avocado Poke, Wasabi Yuzu Salmon and Ginger Miso Salmon all stuffed into tart shells.
One bite in and it is pure bliss.
Want a bigger portion? There’s a list of sashimi poke bowls to fill you up on the flip side of the menu.
Grilled Cheese got an uplift
Alter Ego’s Braised Shortrib Grilled Cheese $16 has got a new competitor – Legendary Rendang Grilled Cheese $16. The rendang recipe comes from the head chef’s nenek (grandma) and what you will get is a hearty and comforting toasted sandwich packed with homely feelings (fillings).
Tuck in while it’s still warm. Relish in the formidable crunch of the toast alongside gooey cheese and a generous mouthful of flavourful rendang.
Slaying it with the Skewers
Alter Ego called it the new range of Skewies.
Introducing the four different skewers, Sichuan Mala Pork Belly, Cheddar Corn Dog, Baked Portobello Mushroom and Southern Spiced Chicken, which allows for mix and match in pairs $13, threes $19 and fours $22.
Yes, and they make a good companion with your beers.
Chug with $5 beers
Happening all-day long, these selected $5 beers should certainly entice you to head down to Alter Ego for a relaxing brunch.
For alternatives, let’s not forget the thick milkshakes at only $10 – The Elvis (peanut butter & chocolate), Millionaire Malt, Matcha Maniac and Salted Caramel Obsession.
And the beautiful T2 Tea Jugs $7 as well.
