Azur at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport – Crab-ulous Buffet & $54 nett National Day Promo
Who doesn’t love crabs!
From now till 31 August 2019, head over to Azur at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport for a crustacean buffet spread. This season, let this Crab-ulous Feast takes you through the various oceanic gems on the buffet line-up. A special price of $54 nett (U.P. $78++) will be introduced during the National Day weekend, between 9 to 12 and 29 to 31 August 2019 where Singapore celebrates her 54th birthday.
At Azur, time seems to have retreated here. The glamorised modern decor shrouds in deep moody light. It felt relaxing and I am more than happy to lounge myself into the sofas filled with fluffy cushions.
Seafood aficionados would be stoked to find a good variety of their favourites here, starting with the Seafood on Ice where Flower Crabs, Stone Crab Claws, Baby Lobsters, Black Mussels and Tiger Prawns laid appetisingly in their spot.
Hop over for more crabs cooked in asian flavours, such as the signature Chilli and Black Pepper alongside Curry, Salted Egg Yolk, Masala and Ginger and Onion Crabs. Don’t miss the Pan-seared Crab Cake and Deep Fried Soft Shell Crabs prepared a la minute too.
My favourite two went to the Kam Heong and Masala Crabs. Both were equally flavourful and full of their own spices. There were also the Mushroom Risotto, Whole Seabass with Sambal and Seafood Paella on the buffet too.
The Live Drunken Prawn in Herbal Yellow Wine Stock uses live prawns displayed in the tank. The meats could be easily deshelled, a testament to the freshness of the ingredient used. As for the broth, it totally rocked my boat for its incredibly potent taste.
Another interesting and noteworthy area was the DIY Poke Bowl Station.
Never have I seen a buffet restaurant offering this as an option.
Whether you are looking for a healthier selection or some sashimi to go, I suggest you to give this a go. We had fun replicating the poke bowls with ingredients like shredded carrots, corns, tomatoes, pickles and seaweed on a base of quinoa and brown rice. The highlight is the chopped sashimi studded with sesame seeds and the chance to top it off with one (or two) onsen eggs/soft boiled eggs. Dress it up a little with some light soy sauce and bonito flakes too.

Available on the ala carte menu is this Fried Crab Cake Balls with Fries which chef let us tried.
The round morsels were nicely stuffed with minced crab meats, onions and some other special seasonings. They were moist and meaty, very tastefully done and well enjoyed with the sambal sauce.
The Dessert Bar got me gaga over the range of exquisite tartlets, mini swiss rolls, dainty choux puffs and eclairs. While my eyes sparkled as brightly as the strawberry chocolate fondue, I can’t help but load a slice of the amazing Black Velvet Cake, some mini tea-infused tarts and grab a few scoops of the Matcha and Mango Gelatos. What a bliss way to sum up the meal.
