Beyond Meat Singapore Retail Launch for Plant-based Burger Patty

If you are the kind who would skip the veggies on your plate, this article is for you.

Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger patties neither taste nor look like vegetables. Though made entirely from plant-based ingredients like beetroot, coconut oil and green peas, it resembled a beef patty with its ‘redness’ coming from the beetroot and ‘fibrous texture’ derived from the green peas.

The coconut oil is said to bind the ingredients together. As such, during cooking, you can treat it as a piece of steak, by cooking the patty in your pan without adding any oil. The oil locked within will then start to sizzle and hiss while the patty cooks.

It is really easy to make a meal out of this. Both sides of the patty just need to be pan-fried/grilled for three minutes. As it is already quite flavourful on its own, further seasoning is not necessary. Simply spice it up with a slather of mayonnaise, tomatoes and cheese over the patty, all sandwiched between two fluffy buns. Your burger is ready to be served!

During a pop-up event at Habitat by Honestbee on 16 and 17 March 2019, we got to try two creations using Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger patties. It’s amazing how something simple can become so interesting and tasty.

Beyond Meat currently has products in Habitat by Honestbee, NTUC Fairprice Finest, RedMart, Little Farms and Four Seasons Organic Market. It is targeted to launch in Cold Storage by the end of March.
