Brotzeit’s Christmas Platter – German Feast with Mulled Wine

Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant is all decked for this Yuletide season.

A festival widely celebrated by the Germans, this calls for the stunning 2,500 Christmas markets that would be seen across Germany. When it comes to beer, food, goodies and handicrafts, the Germans sure know how to drink, eat and merry!

In conjunction, Brotzeit has launched its spread of festive products ranging from the Haribo Christmas Advent Calendar $38, exclusive Beer Hampers, Christmas Tea Blends $18 to classic snacks like Roasted Caramelised Almonds $5 and the signature 5 litre keg of Weltenburger Barock Dunkel ($98), aged for six weeks.

At Brotzeit, be sure to savour the iconic Mulled Wine, Glühwein $12. Served hot, they are the perfect drink for the Germans as they patronised the Christmas markets in the sub-zero weather.

A demonstration by Group Executive Chef, Wolfgang Ranner, revealed how the mulled wine was actually made.

There were sliced lemons, oranges, cinnamon, cloves, litres of red wine and some rum poured into the large pot, then boiled for an hour or so.

The result was a hot and very satisfying drink that warmed all the way to your belly. The texture of the drink was rich, thick and smooth, with hints of spiciness at the throat. Love it! Even Chef was enjoying it.

Brotzeit’s Christmas Platter $138 is great for sharing. Served on a long board, there were slabs of Crispy Pork Roulade, Oven Roasted Pork Knuckles, Braised Veal Shank over red cabbage, Grilled Venison and Veal Sausages and a medley of Grilled vegetables.

The crispy skin of the Pork Roulade was crackling goodness while the meats were tender with soft fats.

Braised Veal Shank was fall-of-the-bone tender on a bed of braised red cabbage.

The signature Pork Knuckle of Brotzeit made its presence, featuring a thick crispy outer skin with a layer of fats underneath. I would love to have some sauerkraut to pair with this!

The Venison and Veal Sausages were amazeballs. Diners can even order ala carte portions of these at $26 and $24 respectively.

Christmas Dessert Medley $29 featured the all-time favourite Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce, Warm Chocolate Cake with a gooey chocolate core, Gingerbread-infused Creme Brulee, Orange Cream and Cinnamon Star Cookies.

Round up the meal with an extra serving of mulled wine. I am sold. Full and satisfied.

Fröhliche Weihnachten!
