Capital 21 Mall in Johor Bahru, Malaysia – Ready to shop, dine & be entertained?
it’s been a month since I last visited Capital City in Johor Bahru when it first opened to the public. It is advisable to wait a little while longer when the various stores and theme parks are up and running.
Some dining establishments were opened but most of the retail outlets weren’t ready.
Since it is going to be a huge six-storey mall, you can expect levels and levels of walking and shopping. The interior though was almost like a maze. Yes, from the view up, it reminded me of Ion Orchard and SkyAvenue Mall at Genting Highlands. And there is also a really long escalator going up to the higher floor.
Around the area were some mismatched placement of monuments. I spotted the Line Characters (with the cute Brown and Coney) alongside penguins that looked like they had just escaped from Madagascar.
Pieces of artworks and quirky creations populated certain areas of the mall and attracted various curious passers-by.
Look out for the Leaning Tower of Pisa, car-shaped seats, a floor-length snake and ladder, and more.
There is a stage for performances now and then.
Some of the spaces are still pending leasing queries. When I was there, there were several pop-up stores selling food and other sorts of stuff. Those unoccupied areas are mostly kept dark and desolate…
There’s a mini game carnival, the iconic claw machines that you should try your hands on whenever you are in Malaysia, and New Market – one of those massive stores that sell all kinds of daily essentials.
You might want to head straight for the Cartoon Planet Theme Park.
