Car Born Cafe In Malaysia, Johor – Cartoon Bingsu, Desserts And Latte Art Coffee
Too many themed cafe lately and Car Born Cafe is a hidden gem within Johor Skudai, Malaysia that will make your insides squeal in delight. If you are one for really cute stuffs and visually-appealing food, Car Born Cafe is the one you should have on your go-to list.
As the name would have it spelt out, the interior resembles a replica of a car barn, with a rustic outlook. You sit on metallic chairs and use cutleries coming from a toolbox; though the food suggests no car-like icons.
The menu offers a range of savour food mostly western and asian cuisine, while the desserts consist of waffles, pancakes, bingsu and a range of coffee and tea selections.
The highlight here not only points to the design of the cafe but the fact that you can have fanciful artwork on your desserts and customised latte art on your drinks! Not something you can easily find in Singapore ^^
Cartoon Cotton Candy Soda spots a fluffy Miffy perching on a glass of flavoured drink. Watch as her head sinks into the drink as you pour the soda over. Adorable drink was ok, slightly sweet given it’s mainly made of syrup, cotton candy and soda.
Coffee, on the other hand, was quite decent. We had the 3D Cappuccino (RM9.90) and 3D Berry Mocha (RM11.90) while they charged extra for the requested 3D latte art.
As a huge fan of Snorlax, I came with expectation and the latte art didn’t disappoint. The barista was really skilful and managed to capture the image perfectly.
Berry Mocha was quite unique in taste and not too sweet.
Before we came to Car Born Cafe, we saw many photos of the Bear Bingsu (RM22.90) on Instagram. Tempted by its cuteness, we plunged into ordering it.
The cotton candy bear head was even bigger than my face. What surprised us was the generous amount of melon cubes layered on top of the snow ice. The melon was rather refreshing though I am not too sure how many would actually finish the entire cotton candy.
Before we dug in, we captured a fun shot on this 🙂
We were glad to have some savouries to go along with all the sweet stuff earlier on.
The Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Chop (RM21.90) was one of the better dishes we had, featuring a crispy but not too oily breaded chicken. The salted egg yolk sauce could pack more punch in it but overall, it still paired well.
Fried Squid Ring (RM13.90) as snacks.
Despite the hits and misses, Car Born Cafe was still rather crowded on a weekday afternoon, patronised by mostly young friends and few families. The place was pretty easy to locate with huge signboard too.
Their dessert items changed quite often. During our visit, we wanted the animal choux puffs but they were no longer available. Nonetheless, we found it quite a good experience in Johor. Though whether such gimmicks will last long, time will tell tale.
