Chicken Pie Kitchen by Chef Don Lim – New Tang Plaza Outlet opens till February 2024
The famous chicken pie shop, Chicken Pie Kitchen (previously known as Don’s Pie & Cake) has recently opened a temporary outlet, right outside Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. The outlet will be there till February 2024.
I fondly remember the pies when the outlet was still at Far East Square. Those were childhood days when my family would stop by the roadside, and hurry to get a piece of the hot pie before driving off. We would eat it in the car, our mouths huffing from the piping hot filling.
Admittedly, I wasn’t aware when it had closed and relocated until recently.
The signature pies ($6.80 Personal, $33.80 Whole) come in three varieties – Chicken Pie, Black Pepper Pie and Chicken Shepherd’s Pie. Apple Pie and Golden Cheese Pie are also available, priced at $8.80 per slice. Interestingly, there are Cheesecake and Kueh Lapis on the menu too.
The pies are baked till golden with an impressive flaky puff pastry that’s thick and buttery. I had the black pepper flavour. The filling is generous, with boiled egg and tender chicken chunks speckled with black pepper. There is some skin attached to the chicken which I didn’t fancy much. All in all, it is a homely piece of pie, that tastes of comfort and deliciousness.
