I tried the Peranakan Fiesta Mini Party Set which comprises of 5 dishes, great for 8 to 10 People.

  • Nonya Chap Chye with Mushroom
  • Pulut Hitam with Coconut Milk

The set is priced at $139 ($148.73 with GST) with a surcharge of $20 on orders for weekends and public holidays. Delivery charges apply.

The Buah Keluak Fried Rice comes in a very generous portion. It was an interesting flavour, fragrant and I could taste the subtle hints of the spices in the individual bits of the rice grains, albeit a little dry. The cashew nuts and chopped green beans, on the other hand, gave the dish an extra crunch and of course, made it even more vibrant and appealing for the eyes.

One of my favourites was the Ayam Panggang. The roast chicken rubbed in spice paste was tasty, tender and moist.

Also, I believe the Curry Assam Fish would taste really good with plain rice. I like to chew on the vegetables that were soft but not mushy; one bite in and the penned up curry simply gushed over my tongue in exuberance. The fleshy white fish was, fortunately, well-cooked and flaked apart beautifully when I forked it through. Not denying, I had more servings after which!

The Nonya Chap Chye with Mushroom is ladened with an abundant of black fungus, Chinese mushrooms, vegetables, glass noodle, bean curd sticks and carrot slices. It was decent and my bias for a vegetable stew.

Thumbs-up to the sambal belacan, a fiery goodness I would gladly slather over the chicken and fish.
