Four Seasons Durians – $1 Durian Hotpot Promo with ShopBack GO at Jewel Changi Airport

Durian hotpot? Yes, we are not kidding you!

Having serving us a decade worth of the durian fruit and durian desserts, Four Seasons Durians is now managing its first-ever restaurant in Jewel Changi Airport. Located at Basement two, Four Seasons Durians has a retail space for all-things durian, from the durian candy, mousse cakes and pancakes to actual durian fruits that can be bought and eaten in its restaurant. The Four Seasons Durians Restaurant, on the other hand, features a spacious interior that can seat big families and tourists with their luggage.

There is a decent range of ala carte dishes offered in the menu where some are interestingly durian-infused, such as the Mao Shan Wang Durian Fried Rice $18, Herbal Chicken Soup with Cordyceps Flower Mao Shan Wang Durian $22, Mao Shan Wang Durian Charcoal Pizza $26 and the Mao Shan Wang Durian Tripledecker $18 burger. For the adventurous, drinks options also include the Mao Shan Wang White Coffee $8 and Freezy Mao Shan Wang Durianccino $9.50.

What’s even more unique is the launch of the Durian Hotpot Set $35 that comes with Mao Shan Wang Durian in hotpot and a platter of seafood, meats, fish, vegetables and noodles.

On 15 and 16 June 2019, simply flash the ShopBack GO app and enjoy this Durian Hotpot Set at $1 only!

It’s inevitable that many would feel sceptical about this combination. But having tried milk tea hotpot before, I am all in at attempting something quirky.

The soup added into the hotpot is chicken broth. As the soup boils, the Mao Shan Wang durian won’t really dissolve, instead, you would have to mix it into the broth alongside the other ingredients.

While we know that durian has a sweet, pungent taste to it, the soup is actually nothing as such! It was surprisingly pleasant to drink and comes with a tinge of sweetness in the savoury broth. It reminded me of the taste when you have many cabbages simmering in the broth until it gave the broth the sweetness.

It was indeed an eye-opener for us.

You can even steal a few bites of the durian pulp if you want.

The portion is good enough for two diners.

The $1 Durian Hotpot is available on 15 and 16 June only from 11AM to 10PM for walk-ins and dine-ins. There is a limit to one order per table where each hotspot is for a minimum of two diners. GST and Service Charges are excluded.

Other recommended durian delights are the Fantasy Mao Shan Wang Mochi $14 in super soft mochi skin, Crispy Durian Roll $9 with mozzarella and Kampung Mao Shan Wang Durian Fried Rice $18.

The wok-fried Durian Fried Rice was amazingly tasty and moist. There was a faint hint of durian in the rice and I also spotted many clams mixed in it. On the side were the grilled chicken, crackers and delicious sambal terasi you shouldn’t miss too.
