HACK IT – Seafood In A Pack by JUMBO had us hooked with fresh seafood & flavourful sauce

HACK IT is the newest virtual dining concept by JUMBO, which offers affordable Seafood-in-a-Pack delivery. There are four different seafood packs to choose from, as well as a customisable Hack It Your Way Seafood Pack which includes premium choices like Dungeness Crab and Live Alaskan Crab. All seafood pack also comes with your choice of staple – penne pasta, instant noodles, steamed rice or garlic fried rice.

After which, you can choose a sauce for your pack. The sauces available are Chilli Crab Sauce, Black Pepper Sauce, Creamy Butter Sauce, Sweet and Spicy Tomato Sauce, Ginger Spring Onion Sauce, and Mala Sauce (which requires an add-on of $6 and comes with extra broccoli, lotus root and assorted mushrooms).

We had our Lobster In A Pack with the Mala Sauce which turned out to be a pleasant dining experience. The lobster meat was rather impressive. Being tender and not chewy, it resonates with what’s stated on their menu that live boston lobster is used. As for the sauce, it has embraced both the ‘ma‘ numbness and ‘la‘ spiciness. The $8 was a good upgrade with more ingredients like king oyster mushrooms and oyster mushroom. If you love Mala Xiang Guo, this would definitely be a great choice.

Not your usual side dishes, HACK IT’s rendition is interesting with an asian edge to it.

HACK IT’s Signature Salad $12; An unusual salad that comprises of turnip, starfruit and sliced avocado tossed with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and more.

Sotong Dough Fritters $9.80: I am not a fan of sotong but these deep-fried sotong fritters simply tasted like French toast (no kidding, and I actually ate a few pieces!) and came with lots of diced pineapple and grapes in salad cream sauce.

Yuan Yang Fries $10: If you are getting a saucy base for your seafood pack, consider getting this signature duo of thick-cut spam fries and baked ‘Man Tou’ bread sticks which you can dip into.
