Hong Lu Golden Mini Steamboat 洪庐迷你小火锅, Food Republic at Shaw House – Spicy Mala Beef Broth and DIY Dipping Sauce

Hong Lu Golden Mini Steamboat 洪庐迷你小火锅 is a new stall that has opened in Food Republic at Shaw House. It has five other outlets within Food Republic at 313@Somerset, Parkway Parade, Junction 8, Westgate and VivoCity.

Choose from a wide variety of ingredients such as pork belly, prawns, fish fillets, tofu puffs, crab claws, lobster balls, quail eggs, assorted mushrooms and vegetables.

Ingredients are priced at $2.50 per 100 grams with a minimum purchase of $8. Choices for soup base include Spicy Mala Beef Broth (in three spice levels), Tomato Bisque, Chicken Soup and Spicy & Sour Soup. Complete with an interesting selection of noodles like Spinach Noodle, Corn Noodle, Carrot Noodle and Purple Potato Noodle.

For sides, there are the Mini Cold Marinated Seafood $9.80 and Boneless Chicken Feet $9.80.

You can mix your own dipping sauce with green onions, chopped chilli, garlic, parsley and garlic, available at the counter.

I took the ‘extra spicy’ level for the Spicy Mala Beef Broth flavour. The soup is rich and creamy but not very spicy nor numbing.

The food is served in a golden pot and comes with golden cutleries too, adding a luxurious touch to the meal.
