JQ Pot 旺盛 – Curry Cheese Lok Lok Worth Every Calories

Any Causeway crosser will tell you that lok lok is a die die must strike off the to-do list item when in JB — whether it’s your first, fourth, or forty-first time here.

Fortunately, there’s no need to make that pilgrimage as often, especially with places like JQ Pot slowly but surely springing up to satisfy our cravings for all things barbecued and skewered.

Originally at Pasir Panjang Food Centre, JQ Pot has since set up shop along a cozy corner of Kitchener Road, away from the commercial hustle and bustle in City Square Mall. While small, the place has no shortage of customers streaming in steadily for their lok lok fix.

If lok lok is the name of the game at JQ Pot, the MVP (most valuable player) is their Curry Cheese Pot ($38). Leave it to boil for a while and what you get is a molten mix of stringy cheese and curry with just the right amount of spiciness!

The Curry Cheese Pot includes 18 lok lok sticks, so there’s plenty to go around for grilling and deep frying (let the staff know which sticks you would like fried and they’ll whisk it off to the kitchen for you!).

You can also enjoy a Mini Hot Pot on top of your lok lok feast for an additional $6!

We tried the Milk Soup (top up $1 on top of the $6) and Pork Belly Platter. The broth yielded a cloudy, milky texture, which reminded us of our favourite sliced fish soup with milk.

The meat platter provided a lot of bang for our buck, too, with a variety of greens and egg on top of the generous serving of meat. At $6, I think this is really reasonable as the cut of meat was also pretty decent taste wise.

For the ultimate lok lok lover, a buffet goes from $25.90 to $28.90 nett per adult.

What are you waiting for?!

Interestingly, stone grill has also made its way to JQ Pot’s menu – talk about diversifying!

Crunch app users can enjoy the Seafood Platter Set for 2 at $38 (usual price $55). This includes cream of mushroom soup, garlic bread, and homemade barley drinks to complete your meal.

Feeling guilty just thinking of those deliciously sinful sticks of meat, tofu and vegetables sizzling away? Fret not! You can use Crunch to keep track of your calorie intake, fitness and more, all with the click of a button – while checking out some sweet deals for your next indulgence.
