Kazo Taiwanese Cream Puffs, Polo Buns & Cheese Tarts comes to Singapore

Cream puffs are back in the scene this 2018! Taiwanese bakery, Kazo, has opened its door at level 1 of Chinatown Point on the 5th of January. While the name Kazo might not sound familiar in Singapore, it’s parent company, 日芙洋菓子 Nichifu, is a popular confectionary store in Taiwan.

Staying true to their hot-selling items, Kazo brings to Singapore a range of specialties in particular the cream puffs – Kazu Kazu, Danish Polo and Crispy Cream Puff. Customers can also get their hands on the Premium Ice Cream Polo and creamy Cheese Tart sold in three types of flavours.

As for beverages, they come in really ‘macho’ packaging. You can get the Kazoman Soya Bean $3 and Kazoman Matcha Latte $3.20. For a taste of Taiwan, the Shanlin Xi Cold Brewed Tea is available at $3.50.

The pastries and tarts are baked on the spot. Whiling queueing, I could see the kitchen churning out trays after trays of bakes.

The Kazu Kazu $3.50 is shaped like a giant eclair and comes with Chocolate, Matcha or Hokkaido Cream fillings.

The Crispy Cream Puff $1.80 is like a palm-sized bombshell filled with luxuriously smooth Chocolate, Matcha or Hokkaido Cream within. It is covered in a thin shell with a crunchy surface.

The Danish Polo $2.50 is much bigger in size and you can get it with Hokkaido Cream or Golden Lava $3 inside. Again, the exterior is somewhat similar to the Crispy Cream Puff, very crunchy and it can get really messy as you bite into the airy bun.

The fillings are slightly sweeter and more custard-liked. Given the size of the bun, the fillings could have been more.

Matcha lovers would be thrilled to find Matcha Cheese Tart $3.20 being sold at Kazo as well. Other flavours include the Chocolate $3.20 and Original $3.

The Kazo cheese fillings are very thick and creamy. Nonetheless, I find the matcha taste to be faint and the texture is too rich for me to finish one tart all at once.
