MaguroDonya Miuramisakikou Sushi & Dining Offers Premium Fatty Tuna – Eat At Seven, Suntec City
Maguro will never taste the same again after a trip to MaguroDonya Miuramisakikou, which has been listed in the 2017 Singapore Michelin Guide. It also has a sister restaurant, Kuro Maguro, at Tanjong Pagar Centre.
Located at level 3 of Suntec City’s Eat at Seven, MaguroDonya is a concept by Misaki Megumi Suisan, who is a famous Japanese wholesaler of maguro and sashimi, also known for being able to catch the largest maguro in the world!
Freshness of the maguro is not compromised. Diners can be assured of the quality as the fish is being imported directly from Misaki Port to Singapore via ANA air freight using a technique called Super Freezing. The fish is actually frozen at minus 60 degree celsius throughout the transportation.
MaguroDonya Miuramisakikou has recently revamped its menu with several new additions. Diners can now savour the finest quality maguro prepared in various styles, like sashimi, katsu, donburi and maki, at affordable pricing.
The highly recommended Five-Cut Sashimi $52 allows you to try five different maguro parts all in one go. This signature platter consists of the Hon Akami (top loin), Chutoro, Otoro, Kamatoro (between fish cheek and fish collar) and Toumi (head).
The texture of the sashimi was excellent, melt-in-the-mouth goodness.
Besides sashimi, MaguroDonya offers don sets on the menu too.
The O-toro Don Set $40 would satisfy the cravings of any otoro lovers. The donburi features a generous amount of well-marbled otoro slices on Hokkaido sushi rice. Each set also comes with a small salad, smooth steamed egg, miso soup and a dessert of the day.
The Megumi Special Set $49 is another must-try which could feed two pax.
Here you can find a luxurious combination of the Big Eye Maguro, medium rare Chutoro Steak and a Grilled Blue Fin Maguro Collar. Dig into the soft white flesh of the grilled maguro while squeezing a bit of lemon over it for a zesty finish.
One of my favourite dish is the Maguro Rare Katsu $36, featuring deep-fried breaded chutoro. The crispy coating is not too oily and forms a great combination with the tender meats within. The contrast of crunchiness and softness allows one to taste the flavours of the fish without it being marred by the coating.
The highlight of the meal is perhaps the Uni Ikura Toro Misaki Roll or Godzilla Roll $64, given its massive stack of maki rolls covered in layers of sea urchin, salmon roe and maguro.
Not only is it very photogenic, I can’t help but have one mouthful after another of this precious mountain filled with premium ingredients.
MaguroDonya Miuramisakikou is one of those Japanese restaurant you should at least visit once. Also conveniently located at Suntec City, the trip would be worthwhile for its high quality maguro cuts at affordable prices. If you thought that only higher end restaurants would offer such premium fishes, MaguroDonya Miuramisakikou would change your mind, offering the same quality that could rival those in the same industry.
