Nico Cafe, Wheelock Place – Floral Alfresco Cafe for Souffle Pancakes, Mala Wings and Donburi

The second outlet of Nico Cafe, by Fleursophy Group, has opened on 1 September 2023 at Wheelock Place. Situated in the alfresco area between Marks & Spencer and The Zall Bookstore, Nico Cafe boasts a charming ambience decked in foliage and an insta-worthy book wall.

Relax and sip on Nico Cafe’s specialty coffee, slushie, cold press juices and floral tea – a wide range to choose from. Interesting ones include the Pineapple & Beetroot Cold Press Juice $9.90, Coffee Brûlée $8.90 topped with a caramelised torched brown sugar and Blueberry Cheesecake Slushie $10.90.

Indulge in cakes and cookies that are baked in-house such as the Yuzu Gin Tart $7.90, Basque Burnt Cheesecake $9.90 and Pistachio Dacquoise $11.90.

The menu offers waffles, soufflé pancakes, salad, brioche sandwiches, plain de mie sandwiches, open faced toast, donburi and bar snacks.

The signature Chocolate Overload $24.90 features two stacks of fluffy souffle pancakes, drenched in dark chocolate sauce, 64% dark chocolate bits and toasted hazelnuts, elevated with a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream to complete the sinful mess. A must-order, its chocolatey richness is every chocoholics’ haven.

A worthy contender, the Crispy Chicken Wings (Szechuan Mala) $9.90 is not-to-be-missed. The mala flavour is prominent in each bite, spicy with a numbing sensation, coupled with a strong mala fragrance that would leave anyone around you salivating.

The Ssamjang Iberico Pork Secreto $18.90 is another dish deserving of a rave. Nico Cafe does a mean donburi, where the Iberico pork secreto is so tender and flavourful, and well complemented with various sides – crunchy brocollini, refreshing pickled red cabbage, crispy garlic chips, creamy onsen egg and seaweed.

The Bikini Sandwich $16.90 comes with decadent stretchy cheese and parma ham but falls short on its truffle aroma.

Meanwhile, the Wagyu Beef Sando $19.90 and Croque Madame $12.90 seem equally appetising.
