Nuevo Cafe at Eunos for Weekend Brunch & Japanese-inspired European Dishes

Located a stone’s throw away from Paya Lebar MRT in a light industrial building, Nuevo Cafe has been around before SingPost’s makeover, serving office folk in nearby offices as well as three churches on the weekends.

Combining European cuisine with Japanese influences, the cafe also serves the F&B arm of Kitchen Hub, which supplies commercial cooking equipment to the likes of Habitat by Honestbee and Crystal Jade restaurants. Every dish is curated with the best ingredients to pamper your taste buds with comforting tastes.

Among the starters are Potato Mochi, Buffalo Wings, and Fried Squid, all done to perfection. The Potato Moshi stands out as a chewy snack that is not too starchy, while the Buffalo Wings and Fried Squid are not overly oily, and are great for snacking on while waiting for your main dish.

The Asian influences in Nuevo Cafe’s menu come to the fore with the Mentaiko Carbonara, a creamy rendition of the beloved Italian dish. Done al dente, the pasta was rich and flavourful, though the taste of mentaiko was masked by the cream. The Yakiniku Beef Striploin Rice Bowl is another popular choice among diners, according to Nuevo Cafe’s owner.

For Western loving diners, the Charcoal Grilled Honey Chicken boasts tender, succulent chicken meat that is doused generously with honey and grilled to perfection. While I’m not a fan of sweet mains, and prefer my meats savoury, this is a well done main that will definitely satisfy hungry diners.

Another dish worth mentioning is the Grilled Salmon, whose vibrant colours are complemented by the sweet potato mash.

Come weekend, Neuvo Cafe puts out a brunch menu. The Croque Madame and Club Sandwich both feature hearty slices of fluffy bread imported from France, and are thoughtfully plated to give your eyes a visual feast as it arrives at your table.

If you’re in the area and are craving cafe fare in a comfortable setting, Nuevo Cafe is the place to go.
